Backward compatibility with older models

Flood Modeller is constantly evolving and improving with regular software updates. These updates often bring exciting new features and address known bugs, however, users with older models may be concerned about compatibility issues.

Before releasing an updated version of our software, we conduct rigorous benchmark testing and quality assurance processes to verify compatibility across different devices and models. Newer versions of the software are designed with backward compatibility in mind. Our developers prioritise compatibility and strive to ensure that any models built/run in previous versions of Flood Modeller can be loaded, edited, and run in the latest versions.

If you upgrade your licence to version 6.0, you will no longer be able to install and access legacy versions of the software (v5.1 and below).

For example, if you have upgraded to v6.0 and wish to run a model built in v4.6, then it will automatically open in v6.0. This is due to the new licence configuration in v6.0, where we provided new features, at no cost, such as our amazingly fast 2D GPU solver and advanced sub-surface drainage modelling capabilities

You can be confident that your models will always produce the same results*, regardless of the version of software you’re using. The file formats will remain unchanged, so there is no need for any adjustments to the default settings or other parameters.
