In our most recent article, we introduced the new 'integrated bridge unit' available early in 2025 with the arrival of Flood Modeller 7.3, and now it's time to dive into another of the new features: the 'Simulation Builder'.
Flood Modeller's Hydrology+ currently enables you to undertake UK hydrology within Flood Modeller, utilising industry-leading software from Wallingford Hydrosolutions (ReFH2 and WINFAP). At each calculation point, Hydrology+ produces a library of design hydrographs for different return periods, climate change epochs and storm durations. This can equate to tens or even hundreds of hydrographs, which can be utilised in a different model simulation.
Until now, each new Hydrology+ simulation needed to be defined individually by creating a separate 1D river simulation. With the number of simulations that can be derived using Hydrology+, this could soon transform into a time-consuming process.

Accelerate Your Analysis With Flood Modeller 7.3
The Simulation Builder in Flood Modeller v7.3 has been considerably enhanced to enable you to create all your simulations in a single, quick and efficient process. Simply specify one simulation as a template with the required number of Hydrology+ components, event files, references and TUFLOW connections. Then, specify how each of these components can vary in your suite of simulations, and the Simulation Builder will automatically create the simulations required to provide all requested combinations of inputs.

The new Simulation Builder can add all new 1D river simulations to your Flood Modeller project ready to start a new batch of model runs, saving you time and reducing the chances of errors in your simulation setups.
