The arrival of Flood Modeller 7.3 marks the fourth and final update to version 7. Let’s look back at the evolution of the software, starting with version 7.0.
Flood Modeller 7.0 introduced the first phase of Hydrology+, enhancing and simplifying hydrological analysis by centralising data in the GIS interface. Users could view real-time gauge station data from the National River Flow Archive, import FEH catchment descriptors, access hydrological data, including the Environment Agency’s Hydrology Data Explorer, and export observed data to quickly set up simulations and calibrate models.

Flood Modeller 7.1 brought groundbreaking integrations and expanded Hydrology+ capabilities. It featured direct integration with ReFH2 and WINFAP for consistent flood analysis, with results securely stored in the Hydrology+ database. Users could automatically calculate climate change factors for their catchment using the new Scaling Tool and apply them to hydrographs, calculate multiple additional damages with the enhanced Damage Calculator to improve economic analysis, and load and review Fathom’s global flood mapping data for an initial understanding of their site.
Flood Modeller 7.2 enhanced hydrological analysis and user experience with new capabilities. It incorporated new gauge station data, providing access to flow and level data in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Hydrology+ was enhanced for compatibility with the latest Peak Flow database, and over 30 enhancements were made to improve workflow and user experience.
Flood Modeller 7.3 streamlines model building with powerful new and enhanced features. It offers faster and more intuitive bridge modelling, unifying all hydraulic components into a single integrated unit. The Simulation Builder was enhanced to reduce errors in simulation setups and quickly set up all the simulations derived using Hydrology+, and an automated report builder was introduced to extract key model data and insert it directly into reports, improving quality..
